Where to Enjoy the Fine Arts in Southwest Florida

There is no shortage of things to do in Southwest Florida, and that certainly applies to the fine arts. There are many excellent local galleries and art centers where you can appreciate the visual arts. Below are just a few:


Center for Visual Arts Bonita Springs

The Center for Visual Arts has two galleries which host a wide-ranging selection of exhibitions from both national and local artists. If you would like to participate in the arts, the center also offers lectures and adult education classes and workshops in a variety of mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and photography.


The Baker Museum at Artis–Naples

The Baker Museum at Artis—Naples is a three-story, 30,000 foot museum with 15 different galleries offering exhibitions with an emphasis on modern and contemporary artists. In addition to diverse exhibitions, The Baker Museum also offers museum lectures and visual arts events for all ages. Current exhibitions include Gods and Heroes: Masterpieces from the École des Beaux-Arts, Paris (through May 17, 2015) and Weegee by Weegee: Photographs from the Jean Pigozzi Collection.


The Von Liebig Art Center

The Von Liebig Art Center is one of the galleries organized by the Naples Art Association. This association aims to present a variety of contemporary art exhibitions from local, national, and international artists as well as young student artists. The exhibitions present pieces from a variety of mediums, and the center also offers art workshops and lectures to promote arts education in the local community.


Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center

The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center is located in the historic downtown Fort Myers river district. This art center offers a variety of visual exhibitions, as well as theatre performances and film screenings. The center opens its doors during Art Walk, a celebration of art which takes place every first Friday of each month from 6-10 p.m. Some of the upcoming exhibitions include experimental art by David Acevedo (May 1 -22) and Art of the HeART (June 5-25).


Florida Gulf Coast University Art Galleries

The FGCU art galleries are a wonderful place to see exhibitions from local, national, and international artists as well as pieces from students and faculty at FGCU.
